Domaine Leflaive
It is one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy. Based on a sensitive understanding of natural phenomena and an awareness of terrestrial and lunar rhythms, biodynamics excludes all chemical products and seeks to promote soil life. In the cellar, the same philosophy of respect guides every stage of the winemaking process, in the purest Burgundian tradition. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, and fermentations are long and driven by indigenous yeasts. The wines are aged for two years, first in oak barrels and then in tanks. Human intervention is kept to a minimum.
Brice de La Morandière, great-grandson of the founder Joseph Leflaive, has led Domaine Leflaive since 2015. He continues to develop the estate in the same family spirit, respectful of its great terroirs, humble in the face of nature’s forces, and rigorous in the constant pursuit of excellence in both winemaking and ageing.
Under his leadership, significant developments have been undertaken. Extensive work has been carried out to enhance the precision of the winemaking process and the quality of the wines’ ageing potential. A series of projects to renovate existing buildings and create new winery facilities has also been completed. These initiatives were conducted in keeping with the estate’s philosophy, paying tribute to living ecosystems, with the ultimate goal of leaving only the smallest possible environmental footprint.
Over recent years, the estate has also expanded progressively, both within Puligny-Montrachet and into the Mâconnais and the Hautes-Côtes regions.
Domaine Leflaive became a Comité Colbert member in 2026.
