An iconic beauty house on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, CARITA was founded by two sisters, Maria and Rosy, trained hairstylists discovered by Joséphine Baker, who encouraged them to conquer Paris. Their vision of holistic beauty quickly led them to create a destination offering a complete transformation from head to toe: hair care and cuts, face and body treatments, manicures, eye treatments, and various aesthetic services.

From the very beginning, the sisters demonstrated a truly pioneering spirit. In 1956, they developed multi-use formulas: Fluide 14, the first dry beauty oil, and the Renovateur, their signature exfoliant, which remain the House’s icons today. At a time when cosmetics were occlusive and rich, they introduced penetrating fluids in 1958, anticipating the formulation advancements that followed. They were the first to integrate beauty tech into their protocols as early as 1962, well before the contemporary digital revolution.

But what makes the CARITA experience truly unique is that technology has never replaced exceptional craftsmanship: even today, beauty artisans remain at the heart of the House, offering ultra-personalized, professional luxury beauty that unites tradition and innovation, expert hands and technology, precise techniques and science. CARITA is a retreat entirely dedicated to holistic beauty, well-being, and disconnection from the frenzy of urban life, with protocols that combine high performance and ultimate sensory pleasure.

A House of cultural heritage, CARITA has appeared in the credits of some of the greatest French cinema classics, for which the sisters created hairstyles that have since become legendary. Their clients have included the most renowned celebrities and royalty. These visionaries have spread the art of Parisian beauty the world over.

CARITA has been part of L’Oréal Group since 2014 and became a Comité Colbert member in 2026.

Its signature

Fluide 14, created in 1956, embodies all of CARITA’s holistic signature, with its expert, sensorial formula that reflects the spirit of the Maison’s professional protocols. The first dry oil on the market, often imitated but never equaled, it can be applied to hair, body, and face.
